About this deal

After both people have answered and the two-minute timer is up, have them find a new partner and assign them a new conversation starter. Make up a glossary of the unusual words that the Creakers use (e.g. Woleb, kidderling, dozy dust, noggin). Best For: Harnessing creativity, boosting team spirit and light-hearted competition through drawing and guessing. I have to say that I am kind of agreeing with The Creakers. Yes, they did things the wrong way and they were creepy/scary, but they had their reasons. If only that had found another way to communicate and let the humans know about that.

Now it's not very nice to use little girls as live bait to catch monsters, but, if you do ever have to, then it's always best to use an annoying little sprog like Ella, just in case they do actually end up getting snatched. Have everyone take turns answering questions. If they don’t like a question, they can choose another one to answer! Best For: Uncovering hidden team traits and testing trivia prowess with a friendly dose of competition. Wat is er eigenlijk met die ouders gebeurd? Lucy is de enige die samen met Kees op zoek gaat naar hen. Kees die eigenlijk geen vrienden heeft, wordt gaandeweg in het verhaal een goeie vriend van Lucy. This awesome arachnid is the largest species of spider found in the UK – its legspan can be over 12cm! But don’t let it frighten you. The super spider, found in homes around southern England, is an amazing natural pest controller, chomping on loads of insects each year. Yay!

This mischievous moth lives in dark attics, wardrobes and carpets in homes around the UK – its larvae eat the keratin found in natural fibres such as wool and silk. Yum! They love warmth, and find sweat and food stains extra tasty – so turn radiators off in empty rooms and wash your clothes! Make a timetable showing the activities that you would try if you woke up and there were no grown-ups for a day. Use this to make up some word problems to challenge others. But Lucy wonders why. And how. And when. Soon, she discovers that there are creatures appearing in her room at night - and wonders if they are perhaps responsible for taking the grown-ups. These creatures? They are the Creakers.

Here’s the last icebreaker and also a fun one: Pictionary! You can do it online, as mentioned before, but it’s also an amazing game to play at home—you can even bring it to your meetings as a cool icebreaker activity.

How can I use 'The Creakers' to help support my child's learning?

Could you record a trailer for this book? Here are some examples that you could use for inspiration: Design your own trap that could be used to catch a Creaker. Look at Norman’s plan in Chapter 10 for some ideas. Flexing your rapid-fire brainstorming muscle becomes a thrilling challenge in Scattergories. The person steering the game can select categories as general as fashion and wildlife or as quirky as “famous comic book catchphrases.” Celebrate the winner and offer them a chance to lead off the next meeting or decide the theme for the forthcoming contest. Select your game categories, maybe you like “Team names,”“Thiings You Shouldn’t Touch,” or “Superpowers.”
